Columbia Beach Resort, Pisouri Bay, Cyprus 5*

Ideal for: Couples, Hens, Honeymooners
Why Stay?: This hotel oozes romance. It has a remote, quiet, location on the fabulous beach on Pissouri Bay, with architecture and landscaping reminiscent of a small Cypriot village. The resort is surrounded by white cliffs and verdant vineyards.
Service and Ambience: Staff are friendly and the view from the reception area over the lagoon-style pool and sea is spectacular.
Accommodation: Most of the rooms are in little stone houses with pretty, shuttered windows, arranged around the swimming pool that seems to stretch from the main building down to sea level. Each room has its own entrance direct from the poo l and all have stone floors, huge beds, bathrooms with king-size tubs, a large seating areas with elegant sofas, and balconies big enough to dine on.
Relaxation Options: A sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi are complemented by an impressive list of de-stressing and detoxifying treatments, including several types of massage (The Chinese Massage is highly recommended). Reflexology and aromatherapy are arranged around the indoor pool where there is also a relaxing area to sit, enjoy complimentary herbal teas and read or chat. There are tennis and squash courts, a fully equipped gym and a hall for yoga and aerobics.
Food: There are two restaurants: Dionysos, which has a gourmet menu, and Apollo, an informal restaurant modeled on a traditional taverna and serving delicious Greek food.
Nearby sites: Aphrodite’s Rock is just a few kilometres away. This is where the goddess of love is said to have been born.

Coral Beach Hotel, Coral Bay, Cyprus 5*

Ideal for: Families
Why Stay?: This hotel is decorated in traditional Cypriot colours and has spectacular views over the Coral Bay. This is a large resort with indoor and outdoor pools and plenty of sunbeds for everyone. A children’s playground, games room and club and a baby-sitting service makes this an ideal family hotel.
Service and Ambience: On arrival, staff help you with your baggage. and a 24-hour room service means you order even after the kitchens have shut. Bear in mind that it could be a good ten minutes walk from one end of the hotel to the other. The atmosphere improves when the hotel is full because you get the buzz of families on holiday but because there is so much space, the hotel never feels crowded. The hotel has a Greek ambience with rustic timberwork providing shade, and vines, bougainvillea and jasmine climb into the various pergolas.
Accommodation: There are 421 rooms with the Garden Studios providing the most luxurious accommodation. These are elegantly furnished with cream tiled floors, jacuzzi bath, a large bed and a sitting area. Your own terrace is adorned with local plants and pots, sunbeds and there are gorgeous sea views. Housekeeping provides a turndown service in the room each in the evening and beach towels, dressing gowns and slippers are provided as standard.
Relaxation Options: Of course the poolside, beach and green areas are ideal for relaxing under the sun, but there is also a spa where facials and massages are on hand. You can spend time at the crafts centre making pottery, painting t-shirts and other crafts.
Food: The pool side and beach side café offers drinks and snacks. Inside, the Coral restaurant offers a buffet style restaurant ideal for instant nourishment for hungry kids. There is a range of roasts, moussaka and vegetarian options and seating spills out onto the terrace with views over the sea and pool. The hotel’s Limani Taverna has great fish dishes, and the Calypso serves a table d'hôte menu and often has themed evenings. The Coral Beach built its own harbour that the local fisherman use for free if they promise the hotel first option on the catch of the day.
Nearby sites: Set on the edge of the Akamas peninsula, an area protected by UNESCO. Guests can enter Akamas and enjoy the breathtaking scenery either by horseback or jeep safari. The town of Paphos has itself been added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1980.

Thalassa, Coral Bay, Cyprus 5*

Ideal for: Couples and singles.
Why Stay?: This intimate 58 room hotel is ideal for those no-children getaways. Thalassa is unapologetic about not accepting anyone under 13 years old. It has a beautiful location on a promontory beside an archaeological site.
Service and Ambience: As you walk into the reception, expect to be greeted by name. The wood and cream tile décor is very calming. Plenty of large glass walls allow the light in and enables you to look out onto the sea. The lobby bar spills onto the outdoor terrace furnished with lots of cream sofas. A personal butler is included in the price of the superior room. His role is to anticipate your needs (or not as you desire) He or she will pick you up from the airport, unpack and pack your suitcases, wait on you at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your butler is also on hand as a golf or tennis partner.
Accommodation: The hotel is surrounded by the sea on three sides and all rooms have exceptional sea views. Each room is named after Greek gods and goddesses. The beds are huge and the terrace is furnished with wooden tables and chairs and sunbeds.
Relaxation Options: There is a small but very relaxing spa with two treatment rooms. Their signature treatment is a yoghurt and oatmeal wrap followed by a massaging tropical shower.
Food: Thalassa has two restaurants; the alfresco Seafood Grill and Ambrosia, which serves contemporary Cypriot food such as fish dishes and meze.

Londa Hotel, Limassol, Cyprus

Ideal for: Couples who like design hotels
Why Stay?: The Londa is the first boutique hotel in Cyprus and has a fabulous location on the beach at the heart of Limassol’s busting town centre. Inside, the style is contemporary and features stunning white Perlino marble and dark wood interiors in the lounge area. It has a wonderful spa, indoor and outdoor pools and of course, the beach. It is all within reach of the town’s most popular sites and shops.
Service and Ambience: When you pull up in front of the hotel someone opens your car door, greets you and takes your bags to the front desk where happy, helpful staff welcome you with a smile. It all bodes well for the rest of the stay. Stepping through the front doors you get a surprising feel-good view of the sea through the glass walls at the other end of the reception area. Beyond the glass is the terrace ideal for a relaxing coffee and a few steps down is the outdoor pool and one more level down is the beac. Its black and white lounge area serves coffee in the day and cocktails during the evening when dim lighting and great music has made it popular with trendy locals.
Accommodation: The spacious executive suite is divided into two spaces by a pillar that houses a television and fride swivels so you can watch television in bed or from the settee. Relaxation Options: Aromatherapy is key to relaxation in this spa and massages, including an Ayurvedic massage means lost of choice relaxation options. Their health and fitness centre aims to balance the body and mind through anti-stress, anti-ageing and weight-control programmes.
Food: The in-house restaurant – Caprice, is run by a Swedish chef, who has created an eclectic menu served in minimalist surroundings. Dishes include Pan-fried duck breast with a terrine of foie gras, port wine red peppers, gruyère potato and ginger bread crumble and Brandy braised rack of lamb with aubergine compote,grilled olives, blueberry sauce and fingerling potatoes.
Nearby sites: Close by is the Berengaria Castle, the place where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria, Kolossi Castle, the ancient city of Curium and its still functioning theatre.
