Name: United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Comprises: A federation of seven states formed in 1971 by the then Trucial States after independece from Britain: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al Khaimah, Shariah and Umm al Qaiwain. Though each state enjoys a large degree of independence the UAE is governed by a Supreme Council of Rulers made up of seven emirs who appoint the prime minister and cabinet.

DRESS CODE
UAE is an Islamic country and clothing should be modest. During the winter months light sweaters are recommended. Beachwear is acceptable at beach clubs, hotels and public beaches. During the daytime, the dress code is fairly casual although more exclusive restaurants may expect guests to dress more formally during the evening.
