Hi, This is Sunayna here. I am planning a visit to Dubai for the Dubai Shopping Festival which is happening there in December. I have heard a lot about the developments of Dubai and wanted to experience things firsthand while I am there. That would include a visit to the Palm / World / Burj Al Arab etc. Can you suggest how can i go about it. I just have a day in hand. I was thinking of taking an aerial ride maybe on a chopper. Any suggestions.

Dubai is easy to do in a day. I suggest you start at the Old city and check out the souks (markets) which are particularly good for gold jewelry. Then head for the river and hire an abra (water taxi) for a pleasant river cruise. It's a great way to get a view of the city experience a snap shot of life on the waterway.

Disembark near to Deira City Centre Mall where you can shop in an air-conditioned environment. From here catch a taxi for a coast drive south of the city towards Jumeirah. Construction work is still taking place but you will get the picture. Visit the Burj al Arab, the 7 star hotel located on its own island. Take in the Jumeirah Mosque, a short distance from the beach hotels, to see a fine example of traditional Islamic architecture.
