The problems at T5, where a superior baggage handling system is allegedly in place, has brought the issue of lost luggage to the fore front of all our minds. You can almost feel sorry for the firey supermodel, Naomi Campbell, who lost her temper and assaulted a staff member when her luggage failed to arrive. Poor Naomi - she has now been banned from ever using BA again.
But the scurge of lost luggage is nothing new - last year over a million pieces of luggage were lost in European airports alone! Over the years BA have been the worst culprits losing 27 bags per thousand. Last year though they were marginally beated by TAP Air Portugal.
So, if you find yourself a victim of lost luggage, would you know what to do? If not, don't worry, help is at hand with our guide. Click here to read it.
But be warned, you may not receive enough compensation to cover all your costs and that is when travel insurance comes into its own. Depending on your policy, the shortfall should be covered to take in valuables and expenses that the airlines won't consider.
