Last year, we were at Berjaya Beach Resort on Langkawi Island in Malaysia. It was fantastic!

We booked a Special Occasion Package, which included a chocolate cake, rose flowers on the bed, heart cusions, fresh fruit basket, a surprise gift (a beauty case for my g'fnd and a T-shirt for me) and a massage session. We slept in a wooden bungalow in the forrest overlooking the sea and had curious monkeys visit us on the terrace.

Langkawi is less than an hour flight from Kuala Lumpur and we found a cheap flight with Air Asia. We mainly stayed at the resort, but visited the Oriental Village themed shopping village (so-so) and the Langkawi Cable Car (very nice).

Asia is a charming, Japanese inspired converted house with rich character. The rooms have king size beds, fire places and jacuzzi tubs. A massage therapist arrives at the house each day for spa treatments and there's two saunas on site. I went for a birthday getaway and it will equally be enjoyable as a Valentine's day retreat.
