Morocco proves Magical for The Adventure Company
Tour operator The Adventure Company has introduced three new trips to Morocco for 2009 as travellers look beyond Europe for good value holidays.
“Morocco has always been an important destination for us, so we’re pleased to now offer an even greater variety of itineraries. “Many travellers who would normally go to Europe are finding Morocco offers fantastic value for money plus a completely different culture, still within easy reach of the UK for a week-long break,” comments managing director Claire Wilson.
With mountains, desert, coastal resorts, historic cities and ancient traditions, Morocco offers a great diversity of attractions and experiences. Amongst the new trips this year, there are two family trips – the Active Morocco Teen Adventure which includes outdoors activities such as mountain biking and camel riding; and Camels and Kasbahs, a desert-based journey taken from The Adventure Collection brochure, suitable for children aged five and over.
The third new trip is Atlas Adventure, a week-long hiking trip for adult travellers, based in the Atlas Mountains. With no peaks over 2,500m, steady ascents and comfortable accommodation, including several nights in traditional Berber villages, this a great trip for people wanting to experience trekking set amongst stunning mountain scenery for the first time.
Several of The Adventure Company’s other Moroccan trips have shown significant growth in recent years. The Kasbah Trail, combined with an Essaouira beach extension, has seen sales rocket 800 per cent year on year as word has spread of Morocco’s coastal attractions. Winter Toubkal, a winter ascent of North Africa’s highest peak, is also attracting increased numbers of trekkers looking for a challenge – perhaps as an alternative to or in addition to better-known mountain treks such as Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp.
The availability of flights to Morocco with low-cost carriers such as easyJet and Ryanair is another reason The Adventure Company sees for Morocco’s growing popularity.
Claire Wilson explains: “Our customers are after first-class adventure and a quality experience on the ground, so while our flight-inclusive packages remain popular - with families in particular – some travellers do appreciate the option of booking a land-only package which could allow them to trim costs elsewhere. And remember trekking trips, by their nature of including all accommodation and food means they’re a relatively cheap way of experiencing different cultures and keeping fit!”
