International Madrid Documentary Festival 2009
The International Madrid Documentary Festival, a celebration of celluloid in the Spanish capital, is set to begin in just a few short weeks.
The International Madrid Documentary Festival is an annual event that is dedicated exclusively to documentary film. The event is now in its sixth year and the event has a number of purposes - bolstering and increasing the awareness and appreciation of the documentary genre, as well as making visitors feel as welcome as possible in the Spanish capital city of Madrid.
A number of venues around the Spanish capital will be taking part in the celebration - including Cine Estudio Del Circulo De Bellas Artes, Academia De Cine and Casa De America - meaning those staying in Madrid hotels should have no issue getting to screenings.
The filmmakers taking part in the festival will be competing for trophies, diplomas and cash prizes in two categories - full-length movies and shorts - meaning the calibre is likely to be world-class.
Previous winners have included The Mosquito Problem and Other Stories by Bulgarian director Andrey Paounov, as well as Fairytale of Katmandu, which was created by Irish filmmaker Neasa Ni Chianain.
Tickets are due to be released over the coming weeks and prices will vary depending on the venue. The festival is scheduled to take place between May 1st and May 10th.
Where to stay
The five star Petit Palace Londres is offering double rooms for two adults from £97 and is located in central Madrid.
