The Benicassim, Spain's annual music festival, was devastated last night (Friday 17th) by storms. Bands played on until high winds made Paul Weller leave the stage in defeat. The festival, which started on the 16th July, was due to continue until 19th, has now had to be cancelled. Bert Waters, a festival regular said, 'my tent has been ripped to shreds and even the stage has been tipped over by the strong winds - its carnage out here!' Today's line was to include Franz Ferdinand, Aeroplane, Bell X1, Josele Santiago, Lily Allen and Tadeo. The line-up for Sunday included The Killers, CatPeople and White Lies. Bert Waters added 'the organisers are trying to rebuild the stage and everyone is pitching in to help clear up the mess. We really want to get the festival going again. Everyone is on standby'.
