Houses of Parliament Tours
With election fever in the air there's never been a better time to enjoy a Guided tour to the Houses of Parliament. Saturdays and Summer Opening on SALE
One of London’s most popular seasonal visitor attractions, Guided Tours of the Houses of Parliament, has announced that from July 3rd, 2010, the Blue Badge guided tours will run on Saturdays making them available to visitors throughout the year for the first time. Tickets are available to book now through Ticketmaster with adult tickets costing just £14 per person.
‘Becoming a year round operation is very exciting. It will allow even more people to take a tour. First and foremost the building is a working Parliament but to be able to offer these tours when parliament is not sitting is very important. The tours are not only entertaining but also offer people an insight to the UK’s political process and to the building’s 1000 years of history that have shaped the nation.’
Tickets are now also available to book for tours during the annual Summer Opening season. Due to uncertainties surrounding the length of this year’s summer recess of Parliament, owing to the pending General Election, tickets are currently available for August only.
Guided Tours of the Houses of Parliament have been running during the Summer Opening season, traditionally during August and September, for over 10 years with 2009 seeing just under 100,000 visitors pass through the famous doors.
The 75 minute ‘Blue Badge’ guided tours, which run throughout the day, have proven to be extremely popular with visitors. The tour guides describe the fascinating blend of history and politics that lie within one of the most instantly recognisable buildings in the world. The tours take in the Lords and Commons Chambers plus other highlights such as Westminster Hall, the Queen’s Robing Room, the Royal Gallery, Peers’ Lobby, Central Lobby, Members’ Lobby and St Stephen’s Hall.
Tickets for OAPs, students and the armed forces cost just £9 while tickets for children under 16 are available for £6. Group rates start from just £8 but vary depending on the time of day. Prices are set to cover costs not to make a profit.
