Right on Montréal's doorstep, Lanaudière spells outdoor pursuits par excellence! From its southern reaches, where fertile lands line the St. Lawrence, to the vast open spaces and forest-cloaked hills of the north, it is heaven for winter sports enthusiasts.

However, things are just as special in the summer. It's a prime destination for hikers, cycle tourists and fans of water sports, and as you would expect in Canada, it is rich in fantastic wildlife.

This video explores a just a few of Lanaudière's highlights, including:

Domaine de l'île Ronde
This magnificent 8-hectare (close to 20 acres) vineyard in Saint-Sulpice, Lanaudière, is located in the middle of the St. Lawrence, on Île Ronde. It has an exceptional climate that favours the production of
reds, whites and rosés, as well as three Port-style fortified wines. Visit the Domaine de l'île Ronde and prepare to be charmed.

La Montagne Coupée
La Montagne Coupée offers you an escape to nature. Located one hour from Montréal in a beautiful unspoiled spot of nature, you will discover a piece of heaven perched atop a 350 foot high cliff!

The Berthier Islands
The Berthier Islands make, along with the islands of Sorel, the Lac Saint-Pierre archipelago. These 103 islands and lakes were officially named "Lac Saint-Pierre Biosphere World Reserve" by
UNESCO. In this reserve, you will find 27 species of rare plants, 79 fish species and 288 bird species.

As the video shows, it is possible to tour the channels, the marshes and the aquatic grass by boat, foot or bike.

Lac Taureau
Lac Taureau is right in the heart of the Lanaudiere region and at nearly 100 square kilometres boasts60 islands of its own. The reservoir is not just used for relaxation, it is used as an all-season centre for
water skiing, jetboating and in the winter, skidooing and even of spot of ice-fishing. Also, why not try a spot of air ballooning or bear watching?
