It can be difficult to please everyone when planning a family holiday. Few destinations have attractions to please all ages, but fortunately Florida is one of them. Thrilling attractions, sandy beaches and relaxing resorts mean for holidays in 2012 Florida is a people-pleasing option.

Nicknamed the Sunshine State for good reason, Florida is a destination with a lot more to offer than a sub-tropical climate. Whatever your idea of the ideal family holiday, you should be able to find it in Florida.

Most people think of theme parks when they think of Florida. Famous for being the theme park capital of the world, you can find attractions to suit visitors of all ages and dispositions.

The theme parks of Orlando, Florida are as varied as they are exciting. Whether your family is into animals, characters, marine life or simply want to find the fastest, most thrilling rides, you’ll find everyone’s ideal day out in Orlando.

Families with young children are likely to want to make Walt Disney World the first stop on their holidays in 2012 Florida.

Walt Disney World is the world’s largest and most visited theme park and has been making children’s dreams come true since 1971. A magical land built around the philosophy of Walt Disney himself that "if you can dream it, you can do it".

Since its beginnings in the early 70s, the Walt Disney World Resort has grown to be twice the size of Manhattan, making it a wonderland worthy of its own zip code!

The 'happiest place on Earth' now consists of four magical theme parks, two water parks, an entertainment area and various resorts and hotels.

The theme parks of Walt Disney World include the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The Magic Kingdom is the original Disney theme park featuring all your favourite characters. Attractions include the world famous Cinderella Castle and classic rides including the iconic It’s a Small World ride, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Big Thunder Mountain and Peter Pan’s Flight.

The Epcot theme park features Future World and World Showcase. The symbol of Epcot is the iconic Spaceship Earth, an 18-story sphere combining the two main themes of Epcot.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the perfect theme park for movie lovers, young and old. A visit to this theme park is like having your very own backstage pass to movie sets from films including Indiana Jones, The Chronicles of Narnia, Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Star Wars.

Animal lovers will adore Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is home to over 1,700 animals. You and your family can enjoy close encounters with lions, rhinos, zebras and giraffes in a safe environment.

With so many amazing attractions in the Walt Disney World Resort alone, many visitors to Orlando can happily spend two weeks there without leaving the complex. This is a shame, though, as Orlando has much more to offer than the admittedly wonderful Disney World theme parks.

Universal Studios is another fantastic theme park resort with attractions for all ages, including the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ride, whereas the Wet n’ Wild water park offers visitors hours of fun in the water.

Those who don’t have the stomach for thrill after thrill may prefer a visit to SeaWorld or Busch Gardens, where they can enjoy animal and marine life experiences as well as rides and shows.

Although it is famous for the theme parks of Orlando, the Sunshine State of Florida has much more to offer to those considering Florida holidays in 2012. Many visitors decide to take a multi-centre holiday in order to experience more of this varied destination.

Miami is a fantastic twinning destination for those who enjoy city breaks, with its vibrant nightlife and hip and happening beaches. Beach babes will also be spoilt for choice with the 60-mile stretch of beach resorts that make up Florida’s Gold coast.

For complete relaxation after the excitement of the theme parks there’s no better place to head than the Florida Keys. A collection of tiny islands connected by bridges, it’s a haven of rest and relaxation.

Indulge in some fishing, snorkelling or simply enjoy relaxing at one of the luxurious Florida Keys resorts. When you finish off your Florida holidays in 2012 with a stay in the Keys, you’re sure to return home fully rested.

Few destinations offer such varied attractions, which makes Florida a fantastic family destination. When planning your holidays in 2012, Florida is an option definitely worth considering if you want to enjoy some sun-drenched theme park, beach and city fun.
