Bizarre items left behind in a hotel room

It's amazing what hotel guest leave behind and there have been some bizarre items collected by amused staff at Travelodge. Some of the items abandoned goods left by the 13 million people staying in the Travelodge’s 496 UK hotels range from sad to downright mad.

One guest left behind a life-size Mr Blobby costume, another a case packed with a 100 Duchess of Cambridge masks.

One of the saddest items was an urn containing the ashes of a guest’s late wife and the most valuable was when a box containing £50,000 worth of watches and a newlywed bride nearly lost her Vera Wang wedding gown when her husband forgot to pack it.

Staff at Nuneaton Travelodge were even treated to a Christmas surprise when a couple left an entire Santa’s grotto is their room complete with a decorated Christmas tree and even a turkey dinner and Father Christmas outfitl

A Roborovski hamster was also found in his cage in Knutsford, after his  owner drove back to Bristol without him.

In Liverpool, female guests lived up to their reputation, leaving behind a case full of spray tan, hair extensions and false eye lashes.

Of the more mundane items are phones, chargers, pyjamas, clothes and toys. Most, they say, are reunited with their owners.

Jon Hendry Pickup, operations director at Travelodge, said; “We have had Ferrari keys, a four foot stuffed Macaw parrot, a rare Toby jug and a life size Santa’s grotto to name just a few.

“It just goes to show the amazing cross section of people stay in our hotels.”

• A watch box containing seven prestigious watches in London
• A Roborovski hamster called Fredrick in Knutsford
• An Urn with wife's ashes in Peterborough
• A large Santa’s grotto complete with decorations, lights, a model reindeer in Nuneaton
• A Vera Wang Wedding gown in Edninburgh
• A life size Mr Blobby costume in Milton Keynes
