New Tour to Hoover Dam Unveiled

With the opening of the Skywalk this week, a massive feat of modern day engineering, Pink Jeep Tours are launching an insight into another man-made phenomenon. 

Construction began on the Hoover Dam in 1931 and was completed in 1936, over two years ahead of schedule. Pink Jeep Tours Las Vegas is now offering guests something unique in conjunction with their classic Hoover Dam tour. Guests can take advantage of a spectacular and rarely seen view from the base of the Colorado River up to the top of the dam. 

This new optional upgrade is entitled Top to Bottom. In the classic tour, guests are personally escorted to the dam by one of Pink Jeep’s guides where they view historical artifacts, massive generators, presentations, the exhibition gallery and dramatic views from the top of the dam. 

For the upgrade portion, guests are also transported down to the base of the dam and the Colorado River on the usually inaccessible road that the workers who built the dam journeyed along every day. Visitors are treated to panoramic views of the breathtaking landscape and rare sight of the construction artifacts left behind after the dam was built.  

The adventure continues at the base of the dam where guests board a river raft piloted by a professional tour guide from Black Canyon River Adventures. Kathleen Wood, Lead Guide for Black Canyon, states, “The best way to get close-up views at the base of the dam and the walls of the canyon is on the water.”  “One of the most significant benefits of taking the upgraded tour is the opportunity to view the dam from a vantage point few ever get to see,” said Alix Reed, General Manager of Pink Jeep Tours, adding, “It’s the quintessential view of an amazing feat of engineering.
