28 February 2006

We wish to advise the traveling public that travel to the Philippines continues to be safe.

All appropriate government agencies as well as other law enforcement agencies have coordinated their activities to ensure the safety of all tourists. Tourist facilities, establishments, and related services, including international gateways, continue to conduct their business as usual.

We therefore assure the traveling public and the overseas markets that the TOURIST DESTINATIONS OF THE COUNTRY REMAIN SAFE, BOLSTERED BY THE INHERENT WARMTH OF THE HOSPITALITY OF THE FILIPINO PEOPLE.

Travel to the Philippines remains safe and secure. Primary tourist destinations in Metro Manila, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan, Boracay and the rest of the country are undisturbed.

As of Monday, 27 February 2006, business operations in the Philippines remain normal. The Philippine Department of Tourism, together with law enforcement agencies, continues to monitor all activities within the tourist destinations. No major cancellations of groups traveling to the islands have been reported.

The Philippine Department of Tourism, jointly with the entire travel industry, assures visitors that travel to the country remains safe and secure.
