The prospect of being stranded at an airport brings on the blues, but not so at Singapores Changi airport.
24 September 2006
Singapore’s Changi airport hosts 80 airlines flying to 180 cities in 53 countries, but also does a good job of hosting the stranded among its annual 64 million passengers.
Here are ten fabulous ways to pass the time.
1.Hanging around needn’t make you breathless. A shot of oxygen at The Oxygen Bar just takes ten minutes of deep breathing. It leaves you feeling so good you won’t mind handing over the S$15.
2. Got a couple of hours on your hands. Look around. There is so much on offer from admiring the interior landscaping, reading a best seller by the waterfall or koi carp ponds or getting a bite or enjoying a cuppa of the local tea at one of 53 places to eat.
3.Got your laptop on hand? then take adventage of the Wi Fi facilities and get on top of your emails. No laptop to hand, so hot foot it to one of the 200 free internet pcs.
4.Got cash in your pocket? Surely you have forgotten something. You will find it at one of the 100 shops waiting to serve you with a bargain camera, MP3 player, something to wear or toiletries. You will be tempted by the “find it cheaper elsewere and we will refund twice the difference” policies. Prices are truly competitive. You can even do your shopping online at www.changiairportshopping.com and let your fingers do the walking.
5. Green fingered plant lovers will adore the first ever cactus garden. Or at Terminal 2, you can visit the Sunflower Garden which is accessible via the Entertainment Centre located at Level 3.
6. Catch a movie on a giant screen at the movie theatre for free. There is always a film on the go at this 24/7 facility.
7. Unwind at the Aromazone Massage Centre. They’ll have to get you truly relaxed to get you to hand over the S$75.
8.Did you remember to pack your cozzie in your hand luggage? Then go for a swim at the rooftop pool at the Terminal 1 Transit Hotel. Afterwards relax in the Jacuzzi.
9. Prefer something a little more energetic? How about the gym at the 24 hour gym at the Plaza Premium Lounge. Reflexology, soap and shampoo are thrown in for good measure
10.Top it all off with a hairdo at the airport’s hairdressing salon.
