The Hilton Brighton Metropole is a contemporary hotel clad in gorgeous Victorian architecture right opposite Brighton Beach.

The Hilton Brighton Metropole has a gorgeous 18th-century Victorian entrance opposite Brighton Beach on Kings Road and near the British Airways i360.

The hotel experienced some disarray this year as the long-awaited and much-needed refurb took place over many months. It is due to be completed in mid-December.

However, progress is good, and the newly refurbished spacious lobby and the sight of a grand staircase have a certain wow factor. Revamped rooms are modern, comfortable and clean, and the public areas are stylish and welcoming.

The hotel is primed for conferences and events and offers 28 conference rooms as well as event spaces, ideal for business and also weddings.

Plus, the Hilton Brighton Metropole has a prime location close to the beach and the sights.

Who for:

There are a variety of rooms to offer city breakers and families. Pet pooches are welcome too. Family rooms, connecting rooms and amenities for the kids, including a dedicated kid’s breakfast experience, make it easy for young families.

With so many event rooms and services, business travellers are well served.

Accommodation

There are 340 rooms of various sizes, and many have sea views. For the best experience do ask for a sea view and a balcony. The decor is a refreshing change with a varied pallet of greys, greens and blues, the beds are large and comfy, and there’s a tv and tea and coffee making facilities.

The ensuite is clean and spacious, mostly with showers. My room, family room 1758, was huge, with two double beds and a spacious, pristine bathroom.

Food & Drink

The 1890 at the Met is a huge bright, and spacious dining room with impressive arched windows and dazzling chandeliers. If you get the right table, you can enjoy your buffet breakfast with sea views. The buffet offers plenty of variety, including a station where you can get your eggs as you like them.

At the corner of the hotel is The Salt Room, with a fish and seafood menu. It is a covered terrace with lovely ocean views. There is also the Metropole Bar, where you can enjoy all-day dining, wet your lips with your favourite cocktail or tipple, afternoon tea and even a bottomless brunch.

Facilities

There is a substantial gym, a swimming pool, conference and event rooms, free wifi and 24-hour room service.

There is a hotel car park (£25 a day).

How much?

Doubles start from £110.00 per night.

CHECK AVAILABILITY

What’s Nearby?

The beach is opposite as is the West Pier looking sad after a fire demolished it many years ago. The BA i360 is nearby, where a ride takes you high for views over Brighton. The Regency Lanes are close by too.

Verdict: The Hilton Brighton Metropole has accents of 4-star opulence around the common areas and looks so inviting with its Victorian facade. Rooms are clean and serve well for a good night’s sleep. Its location is a plus.
