The buzz word this summer is ‘Staycation’ – figures recently released from Hostelworld show a 19% year on year increase on bookings into the UK from UK travellers.

Bus Station Backpackers Hostel offers a far better night’s sleep than its name suggests! Located in the city centre just 90 metres from the main bus station, the free breakfast and internet should be enough to entice guests in. The small hostel offers a cosy atmosphere to meet others with its home from home style. Offering free city tours and even a free pub crawl it is a great place to get to know Edinburgh before venturing to the festival.
London’s Great British Beer Festival
When: 4th – 8th August
Mixing two of Britain’s favourite things, its capital and its beer always offers a winning combination. The beginning of August sees the Great British Beer Festival descend on Earl’s Court. With over 450 different beers available along with a few ciders and perries the festival is a who’s who of homegrown and international tipples.

Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival
When: 1st August – 31st October
Thousands of single men and women descend on the harbour town of Lisdoonvarna every year for 6 weeks. All have one thing on their mind – to find their perfect match. Traditionally the towns matchmakers would introduce the eligible sons and daughters of farmers to collect on dowries, while the tradition itself has changed the idea has stayed the same for 150 years and is still going strong.

Puck Fair, Killorglin
