If ever there was a room with a view worth checking out, the vista from the rooms at the 4 star Pullman Marseille Palm Beach, is it.
This sprawling hotel is situated right on the shores of the Mediterranean and is cleverly built into the rocks with the lower levels hidden from street view. The lobby decor is streamlined with lots of floor-to-ceiling glass windows, furniture with clean lines – a theme that carries on into the bedrooms. Though they are spacious and created with contemporary luxury, the most outstanding feature is the view which can be enjoyed from the balcony.
With those amazing views from the spacious bedrooms, a pool-side bar for sipping cocktails and a dinner in the sea-view restaurant, this hotel and spa works well for romantic get-aways.
Business travellers are catered for with 12 meeting rooms overlooking the sea and a 330-seat auditorium.
Most of 150 rooms and 10 junior suites have a spectacular view of the Mediterranean sea. There are all equipped with the mod cons you would expect such as a flat screen TV, minibar, complimentary mineral water, safe deposit box, tea and coffee (Nespresso machine), bathrobe and slippers.
We stayed in the Superior Room with queen-sized double bed and a large private terrace overlooking the sea and the Frioul Islands.
Food and drink
La Réserve restaurant serves refined Mediteranean cuisine using regional products such as fresh fish and local wines. If, like us, you are seafood lovers, make sure you try tartare de loup and gambas flambées and don’t miss out on the desert – the café gourmand is a perfect sweet touch to a delicious meal.
The restaurant offers panoramic views of the mountains and the sea. This is best enjoyed on the pool-side terrace, during a buffet breakfast.
There is a large outdoor springwater swimming pool, a gym, sauna, jacuzzi and massage services.
Valet parking is available and cars are kept in both an outdoor and indoor car park.
Conference facilities include 12 meeting rooms overlooking the sea with capacity for up to 500 people (1250m²), 330-seat auditorium, and videoconference facilities.
Hotel also features a nearby 9 holes and an 18 holes golf course, so you can combine business with leisure.
Marseille city centre is 10 minutes drive or take a 40 minute leisurely walk along the sea. The city features numerous attractions such as the Old Port, Notre Dame de la Garde church, MuCEM Museum of the Mediterranean, or the Cathedral La Major.
Along the coast to the east, towards the harbour town of Cassis is the rugged and spectacular coastline of the Calanques, best explored by boat.
WiFi is free and available throughout the hotel.
There are 3 reduced mobility rooms with wheelchair access.
Connecting rooms and babysitting services are available on request. Accommodation and breakfast are free for one child under 12 years sharing parents’ room.
Prices start from €135 in January or February per night for a classic double room with no view (our tip: it is worth paying €20-€30 extra for a room with sea view as the view is amazing).
