New York, is looking to offer free Covid-19 jabs to tourists to encourage inbound tourism.

The city plans to offer one shot of a Johnson and Johnson vaccine so that holidaymakers can jab and go to get maximum time exploring the city.

According to the Democratic NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, there will be mobile vaccination vans situated at Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and other popular locations.

“We think this is a positive message to send to tourists.  Come here and we’re going to take care of you.”

At the same time, as Covid-19 cases decrease and vaccinations increase restrictions are easing and so the city is rolling out a $30 million marketing campaign to lure tourists back.

Shops and restaurants are opening up on May 19 and the Mayor announced this week that Broadway show tickets are on sale again for shows that will restart in September with theatres allowed to abandon social distancing and sell all their seats.

However, this idea still needs state approval because current regulations only allow local residents to get vaccinated.
