Via Ferrata in Montpellier-le-Vieux, Aveyron, France

The Chaos de Montpellier-le-Vieux is a 120-hectare (297-acre) blockfield at the southern edge of the Causse Noir, north-east of Millau in the Aveyron region in the south of France.

This scenic nature park features unique rock formations and is perfect for the Via Ferrata experience.

A trail dubbed “The Vertigo Trail” begins underground before you walk along the rock cliffs, attached to the iron wire, then climb up to the ridges of the largest blockfield in Europe. You will also slide down 4 aerial zip lines, the last of which is 200 meters long. From the top of the ridge enjoy panoramic views of all the Grands Causses, from the Gorges de la Dourbie to the Gorges du Tarn.

“The Vertigo Trail” Via Ferrata lasts about 2h30 (depending on your level).

Entrance to Montpellier-le-Vieux costs 7 euros and via ferrata costs 32 euros including the guide and all equipment.
