Jungala Becomes Interactive
April sees the opening of what is likely to be the most interactive and elaborate animal attraction in the world – Jungala, at one of Florida’s top family parks - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.
Representing Busch Gardens’ most ambitious project in its almost 50 year history, the multi-million dollar, eco-friendly attraction, is an awesome combination of exotic animal habitats, rides and live entertainment, set in 4 acres of lush, jungle themed habitat.
Jungala takes animal exploration and discovery to a new level. Multi-tiered habitats allow visitors to connect with two of the world’s most endangered species – Bengal tigers and orangutans. Animal viewing opportunities set a new standard in animal immersion with underwater windows offering a breathtaking view of tigers swimming; pop-up domes within the tiger enclosure bringing guests literally eye to eye with these majestic beasts; subterranean caves; suspension bridges and tree top viewing platforms.
Playful interactivity is also taken to an unprecedented level. Families can play ‘tug of war’ with a tiger and attempt to dodge the water-antics of the orangutans who have been supplied with their very own water pistols!
Families can also ensure their ‘little monkeys’ let off plenty of steam, because in addition to its extraordinary animal encounters, Jungala also boasts two rides and a tree-top play area. The Wild Surge – a 4-storey pneumatic ride which launches passengers out of a mountain crater, above a waterfall for a thrilling view of the world below; Jungle Flyers, a multi-level zip line offering three different flight patterns 15 metres above the village and Tree Top Trails, a 3-storey multi-level maze with climbing nets, bridges and crawl tubes and water-play area for the little ones.
Jungala has been carefully designed with the environment in mind, using decking made from reclaimed wood and plastic, lumber from reforested area, natural roofing materials, materials sourced locally to minimise shipping and transportation emissions and with an open-air design to maximise natural light and air flow, reducing power usage.
The experience is completed with two new dining options – The Bengal Bistro and Orang Café offering healthy and fresh food options for hungry explorers.
