On 22 June 2008, train operator Southern will run its first Gatwick Express service departing London Victoria station at 03h30 bound for Gatwick Airport. Gatwick Express, the nation’s favourite train company, has been working with Southern to ensure that passengers experience no disruption on that day.
Gareth Jones, Head of customer service at Gatwick Express explains, “At operational level, and as far as what our customers experience there will be no change. Our frequency, uniformed staff, journey time and internationally renowned excellent customer service will all remain the same.
The Department for Transport ordered the handover of the franchise as part of its Brighton Mainline Route Utilisation Strategy and guaranteed that Gatwick Express will retain the same branding and the same frequency, offering a non-stop service between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria every 15 minutes with a journey time of 30 minutes.
Jones adds: “Other aspects of the Gatwick Express service enjoyed by its customers, such as a train waiting in the station, which you can board 15 minutes before departure, and the opportunity to purchase a ticket onboard at no extra charge will also not change after the hand-over.”
