The Kingdom of Ife in London's British Museum
London's British Museum is hosting a display of West African art in an exhibition entitled The Kingdom of Ife.
The artists from the 12th to 15th centuries were very sophisticated in their casting process with a variety of materials, such as stone, brass, copper and terracotta.
Travellers stopping over at accommodation in London should be sure to make time to see this stunning show of pieces from the Kingdom of Ife, which is now modern south-west Nigeria.
"The human figures portray a wide cross-section of Ife society and include images of youth and old age, health and disease, suffering and serenity," explained the British Museum.
Visitors to the venue can expect to see an impressive collection of
sculptures that have been borrowed mostly from the National Commission for Museums and Monuments in Nigeria.
The exhibition will be on display until June 6th in Room 35 of the British
Museum, with doors open daily from 10:00 to 17:30 (GMT) every day, except Thursday and Friday when it closes at 20:30.
Tickets can be purchased online or picked up at the box office for £8.
While people are at the venue they could even pop over to Room two for a free exhibition of medieval weaponry, jewellery and other artefacts on loan from the Yorkshire Museum.
